'Criminal liability for companies'', a conference organised by the Association of Businesspeople from Southern Spain (Cesur) together with ONTIER, was held in Seville last Friday. The opening of the meeting was carried out by Fernando Seco (President of Cesur), Luis Miguel Martín Rubio (Partner at ONTIER Seville) and José Joaquín Gallardo (Chairman of the bar association of Seville). They highlighted the importance of criminal liability for legal entities and organisations. José Joaquín Gallardo thanked the organizers of the event for gathering such highly qualified speakers in Seville. More than 200 business representatives from leading companies within the Andalusian economic and business context attended the event.
Regarding crime risk assessment and prevention Berta Aguinaga, lawyer at ONTIER, noted that ''companies must commit to set up a monitoring body to prevent crime risks as well as to determine the type of accountability that the members of said body are likely to face''.
Manuel Damian (President of the Provincial Court of Seville) thanked the organizers of the event for gathering such qualified professionals from the High Court and the National Court and for making it possible to discuss such meaningful and technical topics for companies. ''Companies are the heart of economy and they need institutional support as well as legal security and quick, efficient resolutions'', stated Damian to close the conference.
