Circus Talks: “We Artists Are Not Those Crazy Bohemians Who Happen to Paint Sometimes: We Work Hard”

Hugo Fontela taught a conference about working as an artist, taking place at Circus by Borja.

Hugo Fontela, one of the most relevant young painters in Asturias, who trained in Spain and the USA, taught a conference about working as an artist, taking place at Circus by Borja (ONTIER Oviedo). His talk was called 'Talent, passion... what else?'

Fontela stated that passion and talent are key for artists: 'You need passion because careers in art take a lot of sacrifice and you need to work really hard. And talent is a must in any art related field.'

According to Hugo Fontela, being an artist is not easy, since it doesn't always pay to work that hard. Moreover, he noted that artists are professionals as well, following a specific routine and managing their talent in a foreseeable way: 'We artists are not those crazy bohemians who happen to paint sometimes: we work hard and we need to keep that in mind, regardless of the bucolic and mystic dimension of art.'
